Energy Musings.  Here. Now.

This Weekend.

Limits.  Know Yours.  Honor your personal space.  Set your boundaries.  Knowing your limits requires knowing yourself.  Honoring your boundaries requires loving yourself.  To know and love yourself is to take care of yourself.

This weekend, pay attention to where you may be pushing yourself too much, too hard and practice self love instead.  Take the time you need to replenish, rest or just take a time out.  Paying attention to these needs will go a long way toward personal preventative medicine.

Dis=ease, in all its forms,  comes about often when we have neglected to pay attention to our selves, our bodies, our emotions or our basic needs.  We live in a time when it seems to be “normal” to ignore these warning signs in our bodies and personal lives and just “plow through”.  Eventually, we become sick, tired, depressed, run down ,stressed out, anxious, depleted.  Somehow, we accept this ias a part of the process.

BUT IT DEOSNT HAVE TO BE THIS WAY.

We can maintain our life force, our focus, our clarity, our health, our mood…. if we only pay more attention to our limits and honor them.  Lets support each other in honoring our limits so that we don’t individually and collectively crash & burn.

Energy Musings. Here. Now.

Today!

Deep Cleaning.  Time to get out the scrubbers, the gloves, the abrasive agent and  get to work.  What is an area of your house, your life, your self that is need of some deep cleaning?  A major detox or cleanse?

This could be manifesting as anything from the bathroom  floor to  your diet.  It could be you need a liver cleanse or you need to scrub the toilets.  Maybe you need to finally shift a toxic person or pattern out of your life for real or you need to wash your windows.  Its all the same anyway.  The action of cleansing, cleaning, scrubbing, putting your attention on the work of clearing…. is what is necessary right now.

Choose your tools:  Scrub Brush or Juicer?  😉  And get to work today.

Energy Musings.  Here.  Now.

Today!

Take the day Smoothly.  Focussing on ease between transitions.

Start with your breath.  Mindfully bring the inhale and exhale into a slow, steady, consistent rhythm.  Find a flow, a pace, that works naturally for you.  Relax the jaw, the muscles of the face, the tongue as you take your breath on this smoothe ride.  Now close your eyes and imagine yourself moving through your day in this same manner.  With consciousness and ease.  A sort of relaxed consistency.

Pay attention to the space between the inhale and exhale.  The connection this “empty” space brings.  It is the bridge in your breath.   Can you make that transition as seamless as possible?  So that  it becomes naturally a part of the whole motion of breathing making the inhale and exhale seem like one action instead of two separate ones?  This is a big key to creating flow and ease in your life.

Play with your breath.  Notice it.  Focus on it gently.  And bring this awareness into your day with grace.

Energy Musings.  Here.  Now.

Today!

Be honest with yourself.  Lay bare your truths to yourself.  Your soul requires this intimate unabridged truth here and now.  In the rawness of this kind of honesty, practice patience, practice love, practice acceptance, practice understanding, practice forgiveness.   This is between you and yourself,  you and the universe,  you and the Divine.  What do you have to confess to your self?  What truth might you be avoiding?  Breathe in a big hug and let it go. Knowing you are whole, you are complete, your are perfect as you are.

We are only human, here and now.  Being born into this human body, this human place.  And our human body has limits.  Honor this, respect this, love this.

Dream big.  Live fully.  And remember your humanness, always.   It will help keep you honest, humble and fully present in this moment.

Energy Musings.  Here.  Now.

“I was dreaming when I wrote this, forgive me if it goes astray”

a blessing.  a celebration.  the time to turn to inspiration and gratitude.  Full Moon radiance showers the potentiality of Life upon us.  Drink it in.  Drink it in.

And remember, in this life, don’t hold back.  Live fully, passionately, explore all options and fear nothing.  be your own creative genius, in your family, your circles, your community.  we all have this potential.

“We’re all excited
But we don’t know why
Maybe it’s ’cause
We’re all gonna die

And when we do (When we do)
What’s it all for (What’s it all for)
You better live now
Before the grim reaper come knocking on your door

Tell me, are we gonna let the elevator bring us down
Oh, no let’s go!”

A dance for Prince

IMG_0674

it started with a song, “Kiss”, playing in my mind on auto repeat a few days ago.  Singing along and belting it out in the shower, the kitchen, the car, walking the dog.  I laughed & smiled. Memories of youth and flashes of Your brilliance filling me with energy and love.  So I sang, with my heart & soul and all my voice had to offer. I remembered the concert last year. The magic and mystery of it.  What a story that was!  Front row center hand plucked from the crowd.  I will never ever forget.
Still, the song lingered.
When a song won’t leave, I know it brings a message, though I never can predict just who or what that message is for.
A few days later, a student brings in a song by Vanity to my evening class. And we dance and dance and dance. Spinning, twirling, igniting the space with Joy. It is an Ode to her Artisty.  It is a Celebration.
But I think immediately of You.  This dance we create together, is a tribute to the one who nurtured so many others.
Me?  I am alone in my room dancing for Prince.
That night, a dream.  Deep, long, vivid, unforgettable.  I am at Paisley Park with You.  We are alone in this mansion of a home.  It’s a retreat.  An opportunity to create and be creative in the presence of Genius.  You are holed up in a basement cave… a studio.  I have a loft like room, far off from yours, sunlit and bright, to paint in.  Together we go on a creative binge.  Hardly seeing each other or speaking or eating. You work all night, never sleep.  I am swept up in your drive, your motivation, your blazing soul.  I paint with total concentration and freedom.
In small spaces we occasionally interact, meet.  In these in between moments, a bite to eat, something to drink and conversation.  Pieces of conversation that seem to express so much despite their brevity.  In one, you tell me of your love for God, your dedication to Jesus.  You express a disappointment in the assumptions from others that musicians are strung out, wasted.  You are clean. You want me to know this.  I say I already know.
Another conversation we talk about the choice to be “ordinary”, not to rise into fame but to choose instead to live a quiet life with no less of an impact on the world, only invisibly so.  You reach, and ask me more.  This ordinary life has escaped you and there is a longing for the comfort of privacy you have never really known.
I offer to take you, with me, into the world of “ordinary”. Into places to drink tea, walk by the water, quietly reflect without being noticed.  And as I take your hand, we enter the world as two children. Siblings.  Innocent, free and unnoticed.  We skip and laugh through the streets. No one pays us any mind.  There is a freedom born here, alive here, that allows the soul comfort and joy.  You drink it in, this childlike place of innocence. To you, it is Divine Nectar.  To me, it is just regular life.
I see myself in a new light though your eyes.  This privilege of being here, out of the spotlight.  To appreciate the quiet places.
You invite me back to your studio and I witness, first hand, your process of creation. A magical journey of trust, faith, and total…. total surrender.  I am in Awe.
“You need a song”  you suddenly say to me.  A song?
“Yes, a song.  You need to Sing.”  To sing?  I can’t sing, I protest.
” Oh yes, you can. you must.”
And so you coax me on, urge me to jump in with abandon, and soon we are singing creating paintings I never dreamed possible with words and tones and a whole new language.
And you are writing, writing a song for me.  It is my song.
There is more, so much more, many years of shared experience pass in the moment of the dream. Time shifting to make space for what is necessary.  In each one, I provide the sanctuary for you to feel safe and ordinary and you provide the space for me to reach new and unknown heights.  This sharing, this interchange, is deep and personal and life changing.
We are soul brother & sister, connected through art and expression and life and the creative force that binds and inspires us ALL.
I cannot shake this dream when I wake. It was as though lifetimes passed in the hours of sleep.
That morning, I drive home from an early morning art gig.  I stop to pick up groceries and on my way out of the store, my eye is  caught by a large bouquet of Purple Wildflowers.  Something in me demands I buy them. So I do.  Even the cashier comments on their purpleness, their woodsy fragrance and their beauty.
Back in the car, driving home, I hear the news for the first time.  The wind is knocked out of me.  The tears run hot down my cheeks.
My dream, still on the cusp of my memory, still alive in my heart, remains frozen in time.
The purple flowers sit next to me in an empty passenger seat.
“I was dreaming when I wrote this, forgive me if it goes astray…”

Energy Musings.  Here.  Now.

Today.

Balance, again.

Look to the light & the shadow holding them both in your balance.  Look to the obvious & the ignored bringing them together in balance.  Look to the seen & unseen and find their balance.  If you look only in one direction to come into your balance, you will not find it.  As you reach a hand out for your teacher, your guru, your helper…. reach another out for your perceived “enemy”.  Between them both, is your balance.

This concept of balance is an evolving one.  The more we understand, the more we see the subtlety and complexity of Balance.

What does balance in your body require?  It require strength and engagement appropriately place combined with softening and releasing also appropriately placed.  You have to know where to place each intention.

You will know you are there (for example) when you can hold Tree Pose for hours on end without wavering, without teetering and with no pain, gripping or cramping.  Until then, you will need to work on your balance in your life and reflected in your body. Until then, you will need to search out actively the subtle (and not so subtle!) places where your balance is off.

This exists on so many levels at once. Each level, a reminder, a mirror held up for you to see.

Look Here!  your body shouts. Look Here!  your emotions beg.  Look Here!  your family gestures. Look Here!  the Earth cries.  Look Here!  the world moans.  There is no lack of reminders or where we, you, need to look.

The question is:  Are you willing to face the mirror and see what is required of you to create and maintain Balance in full acceptance of what it is?
