Energy Musings.  Here. Now.

This Weekend and coming Week!

Unplug

In the next week leading up to a very potent full moon closing off January, its a great time to unplug and tune IN.  This could mean literally, stay off the devices and anything that connects you to the internet or set strong boundaries around this area and stick with them.

Your passions, particularly strong held ones that have been suppressed (perhaps necessarily) will be bubbling to the surface so watch your words carefully and keep email to a minimum.  Theres a danger here of your intention being easily misread.  Rather, take this burst of conviction to a creative outlet:  dance, draw, sing, play, write.  Allow it a creative voice rather than an argumentative one and you’ll be setting the right path forward.

As issues come up on your radar and those around you get triggered,  keep a light heart and an open mind.  And remember the powerful effect of the Full Moon as the time approaches.  The Super (appears larger than usual) Blue (2nd full moon in a month) Blood (lunar eclipse) Wolf (traditional name of Jan moon) Moon.  Phew.

Are you ready for it?

Energy Musings.  Here. Now.

Today: Lost Horizons.

What are your Horizons? The things you look to? Dream about?  Wish for?  What fills your heart when you gaze at the open sky? at the sea? What manifests for you in that place where the Sky touches the Earth?

Right now, “horizons” are lost, in the dizzying distractions of our world and lives.  You may not have even noticed.  Most people haven’t.  Marching stoically forward with artificial intent thinking they are ‘progressing’ but really they are just on auto pilot.  How do we stop this communal madness?

Its actually quite simple:  just stop.  pause.  Look around in every direction.  See everything from a new perspective. Take in all the information around you instead of in just one direction.  Maybe even seek out a place where you can physically gaze out upon the Horizon.  Be with it.  Breathe with it.  Surrender to it.  And then …. notice.

Where are you?  What have you been doing?  Whats happening around you?  This simple act of pausing and noticing wipes everything clean so you can hopefully see more clearly.  This cleansing is not a once in a while thing, but is part of our work right here  right now.  Actually, in every moment.  But as many times as you can remember will work as a starting point!

One at a time we can shift from being “lost” to “finding our way”.  With patience, persistence and compassion for ourselves and those around us.  If you’re feeling the confusion of lost horizons right now, its time to take some action to bring yourself back on your rightful path.

Word of the Day:   Beyul.  (Tibetan: སྦས་ཡུལWylie: sbas-yul) are hidden valleys often encompassing hundreds of square kilometers, which Padmasambhava blessed as refuges.   They are places where physical and spiritual worlds overlap and Tantric practice effectiveness increases with multiple perception dimensions.[1]  Buddhist texts indicate beyul are discovered when the planet is approaching destruction and the world becomes too corrupt for spiritual practice.

on Inspiration

January, 2018

Inspiration. Its whats on my mind this wild wonderful Winter.  Honestly,  its what’s always on my mind.  As an Artist, inspiration is the fire to my soul; what keeps me joyful, enlivened and vibrant.  Someone at the museum after my workshop today commented “you always have so much energy”!  I would re-frame that:  I’m always deeply inspired.  By everything I see, feel, do, create.  It doesn’t mean I necessarily find it all easy or comfortable or even ‘good’.  But this world, this life, my breath, every person I meet, I am most truly inspired by.  Call it living life in a constant state of being taken by happy surprise or in a state of awe. Each moment, precious and new and full of wonder.  The ‘energy’ I have, is from this connection to inspiration.  I live and breathe it.

Consider this for a moment.  The literal definition of ‘inspiration’:

in·spi·ra·tion:  noun

  1. the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative.
  2. the drawing in of breath; inhalation.

That just blew my mind:  the drawing in of breath.  Inspiration.  to do or feel something, especially something Creative.  Inspiration.

Wow. Did you get that?  Did you feel it?  Did it sink in?

Inspiration IS in every breath, because it IS the breath.  This is available to us all, in every moment, to live a life aware of and engaged in inspiration.  It’s not just the domain of the Artist.  What a powerful understanding and teaching.

This year, I wish you all an inspired life.  And I’m cultivating and creating workshops, retreats, series and classes designed to hold you and guide you to this place of inspiration.

May we walk this journey together, with love & inspiration.

Energy Musings.  Here.  Now.

Today.

emerge. (v.) (from etymonline.com). 1560s, from Middle French émerger and directly from Latin emergere “bring forth, bring to light,” intransitively “arise out or up, come forth, come up, come out, rise,” from assimilated form of ex “out” (see ex-) + mergere “to dip, sink” (see merge). The notion is of rising from a liquid by virtue of buoyancy. Related: Emerged; emerging.

Imagine yourself, buoyant.  Rising from the depths of the sea.  From far below, underneath, where you have been hiding or living.  Perhaps you sank here?  Or perhaps you were born here?  Perhaps you didn’t even realize, this is where you were?  Do you even remember a time when this was not your resting place?

Look up and see the light filtering through the distant watery surface.  How far above you is that journey?  How deep in the darkness are you sleeping?  How long have you been here?

Traveling to the light always represents a birth of some form.  You already know how to do this.  The work is learning how to not resist your own natural state of bouyancy.  To be re-born, is simply to re-member.

Find the practices to integrate into your daily life that enable you to trust, soften, relax and let go.  Perhaps it is meditation, chanting, silent walking, dance, yoga.   Look to what makes your feel free and what brings you a sense of ease.  This is not a time to force effort. Not a time to work hard. Or get the endorphins chugging.

This is a time to surrender to what is your natural state of being. This is the focus and awareness necessary to float to the surface and come in to the deeper expression of your life you have been longing for.

To Emerge.

Happy 2018.
