Energy Musings.  Here. Now.

The energy of this moment.

What happens today, when you stop.  Just stop.  Like right now.  STOP!

Stop doing, stop trying, stop moving.  Really stop.  How long does that “stop” take?  As you ‘stop’, what parts of you have stopped?  what parts of you keep going?  Did you really stop?

Stop the excess.  The extra.  The “more than”.  Stop the thoughts, the mindlessness, the triggers.  Stop being lost.  Stop creating suffering.  Stop worrying.  Stop projecting.  Stop.

Then ask: What is essential?  What never stops?  What is vital to your being?  What is vital to this Earth?  What is vital to life as we know it?

We stop so that we can listen, see, hear, feel.  So we can notice.  So we can pay attention.  So we can create IN-tention.  We stop so that when we “go” we go forward with clarity, connection, calm, centeredness and true discernment.  We stop so can remember who we are, why we are here and what are work is.

Sometimes, we think of a stop as a “pause” or a “time in”.  But really, that pause must be a full on, no faking, 100 % STOP.

I remember once a cop pulled me over at a stop sign.  He noted that I came to a sort of “rolling stop” but not a full stop, and he kindly and patiently explained the difference.  A Full Stop is just that: giving your wheels the full amount of time to truly and completely stop.  And then waiting (like a full breath!) before you start again.   And when you start again, it feels like you are starting from the the very beginning.   Like when you first start your car in the morning. How long had I been mostly coming to a “rolling stop” at stop signs and not even noticed?  After that, I paid much more attention to stop signs.  I was grateful to this police officer for calling my attention to a place I had lost awareness.  Now, when I come to a stop sign, (especially the ones back in quiet neighborhoods where I find its easiest to sort of kind of roll to a stop-ish, and keep going because its clear no ones around…) I really, truly STOP.  This is my practice.  And it feels different.  I notice what it means to stop and what it feels like to start again from a place of really stopping.

When did we lose connection to what it really feels like to stop?

Today, re-connect yourself to the experience of truly stopping.  Throughout your day, as you remember to, whenever and wherever you are.

Stop.  Look.  Listen.  Then see how the very next moment unfolds for you.

Energy Musings. Here. Now.

Today!

The recent Full Moon/Eclipse unearthed some deep dark places both personally and collectively.  How have you been navigating this darkness?

The beauty of the full moon is its radiant light, so remember to bring in the light today, this week and as you continue to feel the ripples from the last lunar event (which you likely were feeling before the event as well!).  The timing couldn’t be more perfect, as it also “candlemas” today, and whatever your personal belief system, the call to light & bless candles is completely aligned with the energy of the moment.

Light your candles with intention and focus, not just a strike of the match.  Invision that light coming in to the dark places in YOU and with its luminosity, gently creating vision and awareness.  Keep conversation to a minimum today and over the next few days, as the volatile nature of what has been ‘unearthed’ lends itself to triggered places in others (and ourselves) so language is tricky right now.  Even the best intentioned wording can cause sudden harm. Practicing being silent is a form of deep listening and particularly beneficial right now.

Resist the urge to be loud, opinionated, passionate, boisterous, etc this weekend.  Remember:  timing is everything.  And the alignment through discernment to know when something is appropriate or not is key.

Silence.  Prayers. Candles. Stillness.  These are the things this day and weekend are calling for.  Find your own way to honor these needs.

Peace.

Word of the Day:   Coruscate is a verb that means to sparkle or give off reflected flashes of light. Think of the way the little mirrors on a disco ball coruscate as the ball twirls, making the dance floor sparkle.

Energy Musings. Here. Now.

Today.

On the cusp of the Full Moon.

Beautiful Dreamer.  Moonbeams aglow.  Sinking into the watery darkness shining our inner light.

Preparing for the impact of the Full Moon, we practice softening and creating space in our breath, our being, our mind, our day.

Slow down.  Pause between things.  Notice the details.

Bring an extra dose of patience into everything you do today.  Give yourself the room to look around, pay attention and acknowledge.  In each moment of acknowledgement, let go of judgement, hooks, triggers.

It doesn’t matter how busy or slow you day and work are.  Theres always time for an extra breath, a moment of awareness, a time-in. Take as many of these as you can today.

Then dream well, sleep well, restore well, heal well, relax well, and sink deeply into well-ness riding the waves of the Full Moon.

Song of the Day:

Beautiful Dreamer sung by Cheryl Crow

1. Beautiful dreamer, wake unto me, Starlight and dewdrops are waiting for thee; Sounds of the rude world, heard in the day, Lull’d by the moonlight have all pass’d away! Beautiful dreamer, queen of my song, List while I woo thee with soft melody; Gone are the cares of life’s busy throng, Beautiful dreamer, awake unto me! Beautiful dreamer, awake unto me!

2. Beautiful dreamer, out on the sea, Mermaids are chanting the wild lorelei; Over the streamlet vapors are borne, Waiting to fade at the bright coming morn. Beautiful dreamer, beam on my heart, E’en as the morn on the streamlet and sea; Then will all clouds of sorrow depart, Beautiful dreamer, awake unto me! Beautiful dreamer, awake unto me!

Energy Musings. Here. Now.

Today!

Disconnect.  For a moment, a breath, a day, a week.

Disconnect from media.  From electronics. From drama.  From news.   From gossip.  From busy-ness.

Disconnect from triggers.  From toxic people.  From destructive patterns.  From negative thoughts.  From bad habits.  From addictions. Disconnect.

Disconnect from suffering.  From judgement.  From expectations.  From criticism.  From anger.  Disconnect.

As you disconnect, it becomes a shedding, a release, a letting go.  Temporary.  For just this moment.

As you disconnect from the outer experiences of your life, connect In to YOU.

In to your deeper truth.  In to the subtle sensations that create your experiences.  In to awareness.  In to reconciliation.  In to ease.  In to spaciousness.  In to forgiveness.  In to alignment.  In to attention.  In to intention.

For as long as you like, or need, or dare….. disconnect from everything that is a distraction to the inner experience of YOU.

Energy Musings.  Here. Now.

Today!

New Moon on Monday!  Theres an amplification in the air.  Asking you to look at the “stuck” places in your being, in your body, in your mind, in your life, in your home, in your relationships, in your work, in it ALL.

Its a bit of an organic process. Noticing one holding pattern, seeing it reflected somewhere else and asking yourself where and how you can best shift it.  If you can find these places on and in the physical body, down to the most subtle sensations, and shift them their,  that shift will ripple out from the inside and subsequently shift the places where it is magnified and represented outside you.  But this requires intense personal work.  On a very deep, engaged, discerning and skilled level.  When this level of work is not apparent or appropriate, we begin to look around and see where we can ‘unstick’.

Sometimes you might just have to dig in the dirt. Move it, toss it, aerate it, free it up to receive oxygen.  Then notice in your body what you register. Release.

Sometimes you might need to build a fire.  Gather wood, build a structure, set it ablaze and watch the transmutation of one form into another.  Then notice in your body what you register.  Let Go.

sometimes you need to rake leaves, plant seeds, move furniture, clean the house, make art, scrub the sink, climb a tree….

If you don’t know what to do, look around with the question “what is stuck”?  It might show up as very literal, glaringly obvious, quite subtle or totally metaphorical.  But its there, its there.

Take some quiet time today to find that stuck place that is asking for your help.  Listen. Listen.  And then, with the dark moon as your ally, let it go.  Then give yourself time to notice the changes that will begin to unfold for you moving forward.

Energy Musings.  Here. Now.

Today!

This weekend, reflect on this past week.  Messages from the animal world have been present.  One at a time, they have stepped forward to inform, guide and help.  As you put the pieces together from their collective voices, what picture does it paint?  Pay Attention.

For me, the Owl, the Fox, the Raccoon have featured prominently in my periphery.  The owl has been bringing pre dawn calls consistently.  Right before the sun rises in the still darkness. Right outside my bedroom window.  Bringing my awareness to that transition time from sleep to wake, from dark to light.  The in-Between.

The Fox, has left scat everywhere.  Particularly, It lines the entire route I walk my dog every day.  This brings my attention to the paths I walk, to the new paths I may be making, to old outdated paths.  It also brings my attention to the indigestible:  what needs to be discarded after it is processed.

The Raccoon, has shown up in alarming numbers, as roadkill on my driving route.  Mostly these have been on the side of the road.  But yesterday, as though I wasn’t getting the message (or maybe its urgency has increased),  a very dramatically splatted Raccoon smack in the center of the road (on the yellow line even) of the way I drive every day (alongside the river).  And then, another.  And, another.

Its like this with animal medicine, they tend to get louder and more persistent if you don’t get the message.  The Raccoon reminded me of pathways, roadways, rivers.  Of the dangers that are present as others are not paying attention.  Of the need for tremendous protection.  Of the sacrifices made through history and time by others so that we may be here, present, safe, now.  She also reminded me of the center line, the place I live and work, and the need to have 360 degree awareness at all times while in this place.

In my personal work, I then put these pieces together in understanding and vision.  I listen, I weave, I listen again, I integrate.  Its important not to just see the individual pieces, but to see the collective wisdom as well.  Otherwise, you risk being “blindsided”.

I bow in deep gratitude to all this from my animal friends and then I breathe it in.  My greatest gift of appreciation is to listen to them.  And to understand the call for action they are asking of me.  The interpretation is personal.  No book will tell you what it means.  No teacher or friend can give you the answer. You must find that still place in side and be willing to look and listen without fear, judgement or expectation. Its for YOU to hear. This is why we spend so much time and focus on understanding and clearing the space TO that place beyond judgement and hooks and triggers. Precisely so that when information comes in, it has a clean place to land, and you/me/we have a clear channel to listen through. This is called discernment, and it is of the utmost importance right now.

Allow your discernment to give you access to the messages from the animals. They have wisdom, knowledge and direction to share.
