Prayer for Tired

Let me go to bed at night, tired.  Not exhausted, depleted, spent, drained or worn out.  Just…. tired.

Tired from a day well spent.  A life well lived.  A moment fully realized.

Tired from doing all that I love and cherish and enjoy.

Tired from being awake and aware in every situation.

Tired from muscles that have been used appropriately and vigorously.

Tired from envisioning and philosophizing and working out complex issues.

Tired from going places and seeing people that bring me beauty and nourishment.

Tired from maintaining my home, my sacred space, with care and attention.

Tired from shuttling my children back and forth to the activities that bring them deep joy.

Tired from taking care of all the responsibilities that come with a privileged life.

Tired from sharing my gifts, my talents, my work, my love with my family, my friends, my students, my community.

yes, please, let me be tired.  Every night.  In every way.

Energy Musings.  Here.  Now.

Today!

This week.  A week of Gratitude & Family, offers us the opportunity to embrace both the challenges and rewards of these personal, familial and societal traditions.  No matter if you celebrate, what you celebrate, how you celebrate or who you celebrate with.

To create the space for acceptance, love, wholeness, unity…. start with you.  Before the family, the friends, the events, the traveling, the cooking, the conversation, the activity, the liveliness of this holiday, take the time to spend time for YOU.  Perhaps alone even.

What are the practices that you go to for self care.  Massage?  Quiet time alone?  Meditation with your Sangha?  Creative outlets?  Something that both clears and fills you:  fills you with the spaciousness you require now to be the love and gratitude you know you are.  It might require getting away from the “busy-ness” temporarily.  Going out to the mountains, the sea or even the spa.

Take a moment today to ask yourself what you might need.  Remembering: this practice involves sensing these needs before we are in crisis mode.  The more we can practice THIS, the more truly present we can be in all situations for ourselves and each other.

Just breathe.  Place your hand on your heart and your belly.  Listen deeply to the information from these places.  Slow down, soften just a little, and keep listening.  How quiet do you need to become in order to really hear yourself?  Thats your work today and when you listen, acknowledge and respond to this inner voice for self care.

Poem of the Day: Buddha in Glory (Rainer Maria Rilke)

Center of all centers, core of cores,
almond self-enclosed, and growing sweet–
all this universe, to the furthest stars
all beyond them, is your flesh, your fruit.

Now you feel how nothing clings to you;
your vast shell reaches into endless space,
and there the rich, thick fluids rise and flow.
Illuminated in your infinite peace,

a billion stars go spinning through the night,
blazing high above your head.
But in you is the presence that
will be, when all the stars are dead.

Energy Musings.  Here. Now.

This Weekend.

Family.  Friends.  Your flock.  Your tribe.  Your community. This Unity that binds us to each other. That reminds us we are all related.  We are truly all connected.  Separation is an illusion.  You can’t separate your bloodlines out and pick and choose which ones you want and which you don’t.  Its ALL in you. All in You.  To think of pulling apart the pieces, teasing out the “unruly” ones, would be like starting to pull of the fingers you don’t use as much.  Suddenly you will realize that each one is necessary to create the beauty and action of your whole hand. Don’t cut anything off!

In your own personal life, Stop the dissemination. Stop the pulling apart.  Stop the separation.  For this weekend at least, put that all aside.  Instead, look deeply at what acceptance, unity and connection would bring you.  Maybe you need to weave the threads together in a slightly different pattern?  Resisting and reframing the temptation to eliminate some altogether.

Family is at the heart of this work this weekend, so look here to find a way to apply these concepts to your life.  Then, with support, truth, acceptance and love…. Carry On.

Gratitude. Today, allow the light of thankfulness to shine. To reveal to you your luck, your fortune, your abundance, your joy. In whatever forms it shows up in in your life here and now.  See clearly through this sense of gratitude, every person, situation, moment, in your life today and beyond. Letting go of anger, frustration, judgement, comparison, shaming, blaming… of the past and the present and the future.  For at least a moment of prayer today, see everything with gratitude.  Appreciate all that is.  You don’t have to stay in that place forever, just visit it honestly, whole heartedly for a few moments and see what it reveals for you.  Perhaps it is exceedingly difficult?  Perhaps surprisingly easy?  You won’t know until you try.  And I mean, really give it your best!

If all people everywhere take a true, pure, honest and committed moment of clear thankfulness today, what then might be possible?

Breathe into this space of gratitude.  It is your true home.
