The Secret Ceremony

it started in a dream.  or was it a dream, really? turtles.
Turtles, crossing the road, moving forward. Traveling slowly, as turtles do, while cars whizzed by them. The turtles, unfazed by the speed of that which was moving around them.  Steady, slow, determined.
This crossing to where?  why? I wondered these things as I witnessed their travels.  Cars stopped.  A momentary pause in the buzz of activity.  A driver gets out,  helps the Turtle reach a safer place on its journey.  Everyone is patient, no one gets irritated.  In a brief moment we are all connected to this turtle, her journey, and we are all reverent in the process.
This is a gift, this crossing.  To those who witness it, not just to the one initiated.  I see this scene, not once, not twice, but 3…4 times played out. Exactly the same each time.  I am always the car right next to to the car who stops the traffic for the turtle.  Like a co-pilot, a prime witness, to this event.  I wonder in vain, ‘what does it mean”?  But meaning is often difficult to ascertain in the moment. There is only being present to what is happening.  meaning follows presence.
And then the turtle enters my dreams.  Night after night I dream of turtles.  The last night of these dreams, the most potent.  A beautiful huge sea turtle who is trapped.  something heavy tied around its back leg holds it to the sea floor.  I saw this injustice happening.  Someone did it intentionally. I felt it like it happened to me. And so I am searching for the sunken sea turtle, with little hope for its survival. With diligence, I find it. I see her limp body weighted to the bottom of the sea.  I go in to bring her out, and as I lift her out of the water, I see her still struggling to free herself.  Her limbs fanning the air around her in an invisible dance.  My heart leaps. She is alive.  More than just alive, she is totally fine.  I untangle her foot and place her on the waters edge and for a moment she turns around and we lock eyes. The turtle and I.  And the depth of her gratitude washes over me as a gift of tremendous bounty.  I am humbled.
And she turns and dives into the water.

Energy Musings. Here. Now.

On the cusp of the Full Moon.

Beautiful Dreamer.  Moonbeams aglow.  Sinking into the watery darkness shining our inner light.

Preparing for the impact of the Full Moon, we practice softening and creating space in our breath, our being, our mind, our day.

Slow down.  Pause between things.  Notice the details.

Bring an extra dose of patience into everything you do today.  Give yourself the room to look around, pay attention and acknowledge.  In each moment of acknowledgement, let go of judgement, hooks, triggers.

It doesn’t matter how busy or slow you day and work are.  Theres always time for an extra breath, a moment of awareness, a time-in. Take as many of these as you can today.

Then dream well, sleep well, restore well, heal well, relax well, and sink deeply into well-ness riding the waves of the Full Moon.

Song of the Day:

Beautiful Dreamer sung by Cheryl Crow

1. Beautiful dreamer, wake unto me, Starlight and dewdrops are waiting for thee; Sounds of the rude world, heard in the day, Lull’d by the moonlight have all pass’d away! Beautiful dreamer, queen of my song, List while I woo thee with soft melody; Gone are the cares of life’s busy throng, Beautiful dreamer, awake unto me! Beautiful dreamer, awake unto me!

2. Beautiful dreamer, out on the sea, Mermaids are chanting the wild lorelei; Over the streamlet vapors are borne, Waiting to fade at the bright coming morn. Beautiful dreamer, beam on my heart, E’en as the morn on the streamlet and sea; Then will all clouds of sorrow depart, Beautiful dreamer, awake unto me! Beautiful dreamer, awake unto me!

Energy Musings. Here. Now.

Be in the middle, in the center, in the still point.  In Your Center.  This is where you live and breathe and dream from.

From this place, nothing irks you, angers you, triggers you.  There is no need to wander from this place of balance, ease and solidity.  In the middle, there is no polarity. There is no us & them.  There is no need to blame or hate or accuse.  There is no need to point fingers.

The concept of “justice” takes on a totally different vibration.  Its softer. The world changes completely.  It becomes softer too.  You change, You soften.  Becoming aware from this place of 360 degree perspective.

In the middle, look around you…. ALL the way around you.  Everything around you is just around you.  Equally.  Soften into the acceptance this brings into your being.

Energy Musings.  Here.  Now.

Summer Lovin!

Its time to breathe into a new routine, schedule, vibe or plan.  Summer is almost here and with it comes a shift in not only weather but work, play & school.  Take some time this week to pause and reflect on creating your personal summer vibe.  Don’t think of it so much as goals, or a giant “to do” or even “to be” list.

Let it softly take shape.  Let is simmer in the undercurrents of your imagination.  Let it surface unexpectedly.  Let it ride you gently through the ocean waves.  Be its Witness.

See what calls you:  More structure?  Less Structure?  What kind of approach do you want to use as you envision your Summer ?  Remember, most of it will unfold exactly as un-planned so be careful not to get too attached to any outcomes you might set up.  The delicate balance of visioning comes in the ability to dream, imagine and be creative while at the same time not to be overly concerned or dependent on results.

Find a way to honor this process.  It can be with a group, on your own, with your family.  It can be really wonderfully simple (a thought while watching the sunrise) or deliciously complex (an elaborate ritual organized by others).

What serves you here and now?

This is always the question we ask ourselves, no matter what we are examining.  The crux of which is always about non-attachment and the willingness to try something different when it is appropriate.

Dive in and have fun dreaming about the Summer this week!
