Friday, November 20 – Sunday, November 22

This weekend calls us to find the calm within the storm, the center within the whirlwind.  So much is happening, so much is “up”, so many themes.  Old patterns revisited.  But with more choices.  More options to find a different path.  To walk in a new way through this difficult landscape.

Can you see the options open to you?

Take time to just look, observe and notice all the potential choices at your fingertips.  Maybe write them down even.  Thinking way outside the box to avoid the feeling of being trapped.  If you get stuck in the trapped place, then fear and panic are triggered.  Instead, use your resources, your tools, your friends, your community, your knowing, your teachers…. find your way out.

Poem of the day:

Caged Bird

A free bird leaps
on the back of the wind
and floats downstream
till the current ends
and dips his wing
in the orange sun rays
and dares to claim the sky.
But a bird that stalks
down his narrow cage
can seldom see through
his bars of rage
his wings are clipped and
his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing.
The caged bird sings
with a fearful trill
of things unknown
but longed for still
and his tune is heard
on the distant hill
for the caged bird
sings of freedom.
The free bird thinks of another breeze
and the trade winds soft through the sighing trees
and the fat worms waiting on a dawn bright lawn
and he names the sky his own
But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams
his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream
his wings are clipped and his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing.
The caged bird sings
with a fearful trill
of things unknown
but longed for still
and his tune is heard
on the distant hill
for the caged bird
sings of freedom.

Feeling Foggy Today?  Get your breath and body moving, feel the wind across your face, feel your hair swinging.  Skip, Run, Jump, Swim, Trampoline, Swing, Bike, Spin…. move!  Playfully, joyfully, exuberantly….move!  Laugh loud.  Smile Big.  Try something new today.  Who says that slide at the playground is only for your child?  Get on it!    Its been a heavy few weeks, and its time to shake it off.  Allowing the space for the weekend to enter with clarity and lightness.  Resist the urge to lay under the covers all day.  Have a dance party instead!  Once you get everything flowing, your energy will return and you will feel refreshed.

Today, mess around.

Life is messy.  Conversations are messy.  Houses are messy.  Resolution is messy.  Social Media is messy. Art is messy.  I could go on and on.

What makes us think a nice list and a well laid plan will circumvent the mess?  The messiness is part of the process of life. Today, celebrate it all around you.  For a moment, or moments, just enjoy the mess. Messiness can lead to brilliance, creativity and true outside the box thinking.  What are you willing to mess around with today?  What doors, pathways, leaps, changes and  outcomes might open up for you if you let go of the need to control and accept the messiness of it all?

Today feels like one of those “a little bit of everything” days.  A mixed bag, so to speak.  Reach in deeply to this bag to find your center, your light, your connection to your most divine self and watch the debris  flutter around you.  With a hand, a fan, a feather, a breath…  wave it away. Clear your field.  And then clear it again.  And again.  As the debris re-collects, just brush it off.  This may be an ongoing action throughout the day so don’t think of it as a one time thing.  If the debris settles, you will find yourself being pulled in multiple directions at once.  Simply come back to your center and clear again.  Use whatever tools work for your Being.  You will know it is working when your head space feels clear, your heart feels light and you can witness the drama unfolding around you with care and compassionate detachment.

Freedom.  What is freedom?

To find freedom, begin with freedom within. Freedom from fear, from hate, from anxiety, from shame, from blame, from blockages, from aches, from attachment, from longing, from fighting in all its forms.  We search the world over to understand how to work for and how to plant the seeds of freedom, how to fight for freedom, how to create freedom, to change laws for freedom.  We judge those who we view as impediments to freedom fiercely.   But as with so many things, we think we can create it outside ourselves before it is truly truly truly present within.

Today, this week, work within.  Find one place in your being that is not free… and release it.  let go.  with a breath, with a walk, with a sigh, with a laugh, with a cry, with a hug, with a dance, with a song….. give it voice and move on.  I mean really.  Not just for the moment.  But forever.  Otherwise its not really letting go, but only letting it out on a really long tether until it comes back to you again sooner or later.

Cut the tether.  Taste a moment of freedom.

Song of the day:  Fare thee well

Today, I encourage you to become just a little more free.

Happy Weekend!  This weekend, connect with community.  Consciously choose where, how and when you connect.  What is it that you need right now?  Is it the community of your nuclear family?  Is it the community of an intimate group of friends?  Is it the community of your neighbors?  Is it a larger community? Each one of us has multiple circles of communities we come in and out of.  They are like the circles that make up the flower of life, interconnected.  There isn’t just one tribe or community that is yours… but many many many tribes you belong to!  As you choose to engage or disengage in one or another, do so consciously.  Paying attention to the deep calling of your soul. Watch for signs of guilt, laziness or distraction pulling you in one direction or another.  Don’t necessarily go with your first instinct.  Sometimes that first instinct is a well worn path of denial or just habit.  Maybe you need to try something different?  or maybe not.  Asking yourself this question first allows you the opportunity to choose.  Many options are right in front of you at this moment in time.  With grace, patience and acceptance ,  step forward with acknowledgement as you choose your path.

Thursday, November 12

A moment of pink in the sky.  Colorful Sunrise greets the day.  A blessing for the work done previously.  And with a breath, it is gone. Grey skies move in, hiding all signs of the radiant display from seconds ago.  How quickly this sky changes.  Shifting our landscape dramatically. The quality of light, the temperature of the air.  How we see.  How we feel.

This too shall pass.

Letting go of judgment.  Letting go of attachment (yes, even to those beautiful pink clouds!).  We see only that the world around us is in constant flux. Change is truly the only consistent thing!

Today, embrace the change.  Love it for what it is… not what you want it to be. In deep appreciation for everything everything everything… I really mean everything!    This too, will bring you into greater levels of wholeness.
